D'Alto Studio Announces our Summer Intensive Study
Choose One to Four Weeks from June 21-July 17

For students the Summer Intensive Study is a time to experience the rigors and rewards of a day-long program. Students will come away with a fuller insight into the life one can expect to experience at the Conservatory level and as a professional dancer, singer or actor.

For many the program will be an eye-opening encounter of all aspects of the performing arts that have not been available until now. Best of all, the most wonderful experience is meeting new friends and having loads of fun as you continue to learn broaden your appreciation in all the arts and improve in activities that you love.

A nonrefundable deposit of $100.00 is due no later than May 31, 2010 and will be applied to your tuition balance on the first day of the summer intensive study.
An installments plan is available to all who would so desire, beginning immediately and in increments that can be arranged with the studio.

We have added a few new classes to our roster for the winter semester.

New!

Kids Hop Wednesdays at 5:30- A kid friendly version of Hip Hop that tones down suggestive movements in favor of a jazzy hip hop style just right for kids grades 1-6.

Tap For Adults at 7:00 on Tuesday nights. Been a while since you had your tap shoes on? Never tried it before? This is the class for you!

Adult Ballet Thursdays and Fridays at 6:30 - for high school, college ages and adults who like the idea of a full body workout that focuses the mind,works the body and feeds the soul.

Ballet For Men Thursday at 5:30 - a new class just for the gents who are just beginners.

Modern for Men Saturdays 2:30 - Graham for Men in their own special class

Fosse Jazz Wed 7:00 Pm- The unique jazz style of dance as choreographed by Bob Fosse

Adult Actors- Thursday nights at 7:00 .

DAlto Voices Vocal Group Thursdays 8:00 Pm - High School and Adults(by audition)

* The Studio will be closed Thurs and Fri Nov 26 & 27. Happy Thanksgiving!
We will hold classes on Saturday, the 28th as usual.

* Our Christmas Show,"A Performance Yule Love" takes the stage with two performances on Saturday Dec 12th, at 2:00 and 7:00 and on the 13th at 2:00. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $8 for students and can be reserved with your credit card by phoning the studio at 402-4166. This show will feature our Ballet students as well as our D'Alto Elite students in a great holiday show!

* Don't Miss Acting Night on Friday December 18 at 7:30 ! Acting students will perform monologues and scenes and we will feature our production class in their original show " The Flying Trunk". Door charge that evening will be $7 for adults and $5 for students.

* Our Next Solo Night is Saturday, Dec 19 at 7:00 Pm with holiday songs and more from private D'Alto vocal students, instructors and Michael and Jennifer Dalto.The Door charge for that show will be $7 for adults and $5 for students.

Our studio will close for the Christmas Holiday on Dec 24th and reopen on Saturday, January 2.

First Annual Halloween Masquerade Ball

You are invited to join us for our first annual Halloween Masquerade Ball. Dress up in your finest After-Six garb, grab your mask,and get ready to dance the night away in a new,more elegant affair for Halloween. Refreshments are included in the ticket price of $15 per person advance/ $18 at the door. Don't have a mask? We'll be selling them at the studio all month. Starts at 6:00 and goes to 10:00 so you can make that other party you've been invited to !

Oct 17 is Solo Night and Michael's Birthday Bash ! The show starts at 7:00 PM in the D'Alto BoHo Theater. Tickets are $8 advance and $10 at the door with performances scheduled by Michael and Jennifer, D'Alto students and Instructors- and everyone gets a piece of birthday cake!

Oct 18 it's the Switch Cabaret Show. This show will explore gender roles-and switch them- so that men sing songs written for women and women will sing those meant for men. Love songs,sad songs and funny songs will entertain, engage and inspire you. Show starts at 6:00 PM and tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students.

Oct 24 and 25 D'Alto Concert Dance Group Presents Danse Macabre
Something Completely New for the Evansville Area ! Three new pieces choreographed by D'Alto dance instructors and compiled into one amazing show. These pieces are:

Goblins! choreographed by Ashley Frary
Inspired by the popular Nutcracker Ballet, this tale follows a young girl through a very adventurous Halloween night into the realm of Goblins and back again!

To Dance with the Dead Choreographed by Amy Dalto
Those we lose in life never really die in our hearts.Take a journey through three tales of love and loss and life and death with this contemporary rock-out piece!

Persephone in the Underworld choreographed by Joshua Crouch
Go back and witness the ancient story of Persephone and her mother, the Greek Goddess, Demeter. Walk with them through the pain of separation, the fall of winter and the joy of reunion with the the return of Spring in this unforgettable tale.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students with show times at 7:00 on Saturday the 24th and 2:00 on Sunday the 25th.

AUDITONS FOR HUMOR ME CABARET
Friday Oct 16 from 2-6 (call for your audition time slot at 402-4166 )This is our third Cabaret in the series and sure to be a crowd-pleaser, filled with songs that tickle the funny bone . Directed by Jennifer Dalto. The show takes the stage on Sunday, November 15 at 6:00 PM.

All during the month of October D'Alto Students are encouraged to bring their friends with them to class. You must download, print, and fill in the "Bring A Friend" form from our web site. Present your friend to your instructor in class along with the completed form . Your form will be deposited into the drawing box . If your friend joins during the month of October, a copy of their registration form will also be placed in the drawing box , so for every friend you bring who then joins you will have two chances to win in the drawing! There is no limit to the number of friends you bring- you just can't bring the same friend more than once. On Oct 31 at 3:00 PM we will draw the winning form from the box and the winner will be notified by phone call. So Bring your friends and WIN!!

First day of class officially begins TODAY! So bring your monologues, your music, and your dancin' shoes and come ready to learn!

Just a few updates:
The building is coming together! A lot of the solid painting is done! However, we still need MURALS! Artists, Artists, Artists! Come one, come all! If you would like to paint a mural, come to the building or call 402-4166 and ask for Ashley!

AUDITIONS ARE COMING UP!
What? Auditions? You mean, like, there are gonna be opportunities to perform at a performing arts studio? Shut. up.

The D'Alto Concert Dance Group is holding auditions for its first annual Halloween dance concert:

Very, very important.

Firstly, if you don't know already, the first week of classes has been MOVED.

Group classes will now start the week of August 17th.

Also, the schedule is to be updated again in the next few days. Again, no major changes, but it's good just to keep posted.

Don't forget! August 8th is the big registration day for ballet! The Martins will be here at the studio, signing people up and answering questions from 11:30am to 4:30pm. If you are unsure what level you should be in, you need to come to this!

AND the best news so far (in this entry of course... mwuha!) is that we are now accepting ONLINE REGISTRATIONS!! Wooo!! To find out more about how that works, click here.

And lastly...

SO! The first week of classes is coming up soon! WHHAATT??

I know. It's all way too exciting.

But, before you start jumping up and down, squealing with delight, here are a few things you should know:

1) IF your class is not full enough (AKA, if the number of students registered is under 5), we will not start the class until the month of SEPTEMBER. You will know whether or not your class is delayed by checking the new class schedule on the website, which will be updated by 11:00pm Thursday (that's tomorrow).

2) BALLET classes under the Martins will not begin until August 17th. They are also holding a day to register for all ballet classes on August 8th, from 10am to 4pm. If you are planning on taking ballet, or even just thinking about it, please come on that day-- they will be there to answer any and all of your questions!

3) BTW, if you're thinking of going into musical theatre in college, you should take a ballet class. No, seriously.

4) Class descriptions will be posted by tomorrow as well.

5) We are starting a super-awesome College discount program! Why? Because we know that you college students out there are probably paying for classes on your own, and we also know that college life is expensive the way it is without having to pay for additional lessons. In order to be more accessible to you, we're giving you a DISCOUNT! WOO!!!!! What do you need to do for this discount? Call us or just walk in and ask. We will be happy to assist.

ONE: We now have internet (and soon wifi!) at the new studio!

TWO: Yes, it's officially called a STUDIO, not the BUILDING like we've been referring to it. I just found that out yesterday. Haha.

THREE: Our black box floor is almost finished!! We still need a few big burly men to come in and help move the bleachers so we can complete it! If you're big, burly, and willing, please call 430-9828. Thanks!

FOUR: We will be working on the tye-dye for the t-shirts & gear all day Wednesday and Thursday this week. If you want to stop by, please do! If you are 17 years or older, you are also welcome to come and help make them!!

FIVE: ALSO for you big, burly men out there... we will be moving furniture in on thursday afternoon/night. If you can help, call the number above!

LAST: The open hours for registration for the rest of the week are: W-F 10am-2pm--------->Note: we probably will be there longer, tye-dying after 2, if you want to come, but there will be no guarantees. Please call ahead!

A few words from your incredibly enthusiastic Newsman today:

Firstly, we are open for business this week!

Ashley will be receiving donations, chairs, and registering students on Monday & Tuesday at the building from 10:00am-4:00pm.

Hours for the rest of the week will be posted ASAP.

Secondly, our class schedule has been officially updated! To give you a run-down of what we changed:

Class times have been modified: not terribly, but a few classes have been pushed back 1/2 hour. Please check and make sure it's alright for you!

New classes have been added! They include: Directing 1 for high school-ages, and Directing Styles for upper high school & college.

Our Open Ballet class on Saturday mornings has not been canceled, but it has been closed from registration for the time being. In its place is ballet for 4-6 year olds!

Lastly, and MOST importantly....

D'Alto Studios now has a TWITTER account! It's just another way you can stay up-to-date with all of our events and activities!

We're Moving into a New Facility!!

D'Alto Studios will be moving into our new 9000 square foot facility July 15th at 303 B Stockwell close to the Lloyd Expressway and Eastland Mall! Beginning through intermediate classes for tweens and teens with limited or no prior training. Classes for the very young and adults as well !

The theme is entertainment- film, theater, music, television etc. If you would like to paint a figure or a quote on our wall we want to hear from you. Submissions should come via email at daltoarts@aol.com. You will need to draw your design on paper and submit it.Ashley Frary is our artistic designer for the space and she will get in touch with you and let you know if your design will fit and arrange for you to come and add it to the wall.

Our seating for the black box theater space is also going to be eclectic and artistic. We are asking for donations of chairs that you paint or that we can paint to cover similar themes to that of the murals - Entertainment. We'll need musical themes,iconic films and their stars, Broadway - from Larson to Rogers and Hammerstein - musicians and recording artists, songs, iconic TV themes and so forth. These chairs need not match in style - you can choose any hard chair with or with out a seat cushion. Wood is desired but metal chairs can be used as well. Dining chairs,office chairs, and so forth will work well. No lawn chairs or plastic please, but we will need even a few bar stools. You don't need to spend much money - get them from goodwill or at a garage sale. Paint them or just bring us the chair if you don't have time to be artistic.

If you like this idea and are not artistic please consider donating a couple of bucks to the project so that we can afford the paint and supplies. All artists need their supporters. Let us know if you would like to donate and we will put that money to good use. This project will be ongoing from now until it gets done but we would like to have it done by the end of July .
